Our very own, Coach Dean, is making a difference in lives well beyond Beaubien.  His organization, Project One Goal, is looking for support and would appreciate your consideration.

Dear Friends,

As you are well aware, the past two years have presented many challenges for each of us. The Covid-19 pandemic has drastically changed life as we knew it. This has brought me to a period of reflection, and also many opportunities where I am counting my blessings. I want to take a moment to wish you and your family well and to thank you for being an avid supporter of Project One Goal (Formally ‘Project Winter Camp Jamaica’). Because of your support, we have been able to provide soccer instruction, mentorship, and equipment to over 800 children in the greater Kingston area. We have been able to provide these students and families with Financial Literacy classes and have been able to change lives for the better.

As you may remember, over the past two years while things were closed due to the pandemic, we were able to successfully transition Project One goal to operate as a 501c3. While this was an important growth opportunity for the foundation, we greatly missed the energy of our campers. We made the most of this time, however. Where we were not able to conduct camps, we instead spend time focusing on how to best develop and strengthen the organization from home. Now that we are emerging from the pandemic, and we are seeing life begin to return more and more to the normal day to day activities we were used to, we are once again ready to get back to the field and spend time with our campers.

We just received some especially exciting news! As of March 1, 2022, Jamaica has opened up again to travelers. With that news, we were recently able to confirm an invitation to August Town at August Town Primary School which will allow us once again to conduct a camp during the morning hours we have held there in recent years. Additionally, a second invitation has also been received inviting us to conduct a second camp during the afternoon hours in Portmore at Portsmouth Primary School. Both camps will be held during the week of April 11th-15th, while students in Jamaica are on Easter Holiday. This comes at a perfect time as we are all anxious to get back to the students and re-develop the relationships both on the field and in the community. However, this also presents a challenge as it only allows us a mere three weeks to raise the monies needed to successfully re-establish our presence and to introduce our new brand to our local partners while delivering the camps students have come to love.

We come to you today, seeking your support to make this happen. While we recognize this is extremely short notice, we are reaching out as quickly as possible to therefore afford you as much notice as we can given the timelines that were provided to us. Your generous donation will allow us to purchase t-shirts that will be screen-printed with the camp logo. It allows us the ability to ship necessary equipment and supplies to Kingston ahead of our arrival. It will also assist in securing lodging and transportation for the coaches while traveling to and from each camp. We need you now more than ever!

It is our hope and intention to return to Jamaica again in December of 2022 so that we might re-establishing our usual timing of a winter camp. As you see, 2022 is shaping up to be a great year for camps and relationships with students and community organizations that also work to serve the students in the area. As a result, we will be exploring lots of fundraising opportunities in the weeks and months to come. I am forever grateful to have had your trust in our work thus far and wanted to personally inform you of these exciting new updates. You will continue to hear from Project One Goal as new and exciting developments occur. Please visit us at Projectonegoal.org to learn more about the many exciting things that are happening as well as to make a donation that will support our efforts.

Again, thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Coach Dean Lothian
