Dear Beaubien Bulldog Families,

We have had a fantastic first week of school!!  Thank you to everyone for being patient during arrival and dismissal times.  Please remember that it is best to park two blocks away from school and walk your child to their designated entrance.  For our bus families, a BIG thank you for being so patient.  CPS has assured us that everything will be fixed by this week.
On another note, some parents and students have expressed concerns regarding our recess guided days.  I want to assure everyone that starting this week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday students will choose from an array of fun activities such as jump rope, soccer, football and more.  For those students who need down time, the coaches will also have a place for them to relax, talk with a friend or read.  Tuesday and Thursdays, after the students check in with their coaches, they will have a more traditional recess without stations.  Keep in mind that this last week has been used to inform all of our students on the rules and expectations during recess. Our coaches have been trained to keep a watchful eye on our students to help them make good, safe choices independently and offer suggestions and redirection as needed.  We believe this will increase our students’ abilities to make sound decisions both at school and within the community as they become increasingly more independent.  Most importantly we know that this will make our playground a safer place, physically and emotionally for all of our students.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me at mhludford@cps.edu or at 773-534-3500.

Warm regards,
Michelle Ludford
