Dear Beaubien Families,

Welcome to a new school year! We are delighted to welcome our students into the building on the first day of school, Monday, August 30th!!! This school year will surely be one we all will never forget! I am super excited to launch it with our amazing educator team.

Our school improvement goals include addressing any trauma or social and emotional setbacks that this pandemic has brought upon our students. Additionally, we will continue to provide engaging instruction and a rigorous curriculum for the 21/22 school year. This includes a focus on addressing any unfinished student learning by using new CPS assessments and intervention platforms to provide data informed targeted instruction. To prepare for the important work ahead, teachers are receiving training on our new Skyline ELA curriculum for grades K-6 as well as our new Social Science curriculum for grades K-8. Our staff is ready to serve our students to the best of their ability!

Homeroom teachers will be sending out a welcome letter with contact information early next week. Please see the attached Parent/Student Handbook for more detailed information regarding school procedures, entry/exit door #’s, etc. for opening day on August 30th. We will be hosting a supply drop off on Thursday, August 26th. Please see the attachment below for specific times according to the first letter of your last name.

Although in person learning will look slightly different than in the past, we are excited for this new chapter. It is mandatory that everyone follows the guidelines below to keep everyone safe.

  1. Everyone will be wearing a mask except when eating breakfast and lunch. When possible, mask breaks will occur during outside recess. CPS has provided 3 masks for every student. If you would like to wear one from home that is fine.

  2. All social distancing guidelines will be followed. Students will maintain 3 feet of social distance whenever possible.

  3. It is imperative that parents complete the CPS HEALTH SCREENER before students enter school. Any student that has not completed a health screener will be assigned to the Care Room for pickup within 60 minutes. If your child fails the Health Screener, they are not allowed to attend in-person school.

  4. If a student exhibits ANY of the following symptoms, please keep your child home. If they come to school, they will be sent to the Care Room and parents will be expected to pick up within 60 minutes.

    Chills
    Cough
    Shortness of breath Fatigue
    Muscle or body aches Headache
    New loss of taste or smell Sore throat
    Congestion or runny nose Nausea or vomiting Diarrhea

  5. Visitors will be kept to a minimum. If you need to pick up your child from school, please buzz the office at Door 2 when you arrive and a staff member will escort the student to you at the door.

  6. Students will not be allowed to enter the building prior to 7:45AM. Please plan for inclement weather and dress your child appropriately to ensure their safety.

  7. Some of our water fountains are sealed off for students so please have students bring a filled, resealable water bottle.

  8. In order to maintain the safety protocols, it is imperative that all students come to school on time.

  9. Students are required to bring their own supplies for use in the classroom, due to safety guidelines. Specific classroom supplies needed will be communicated by the classroom teacher in the coming weeks.

  10. Students will be eating lunch and having outdoor recess, weather permitting. Students may bring their own lunch, but please be sure they can open all containers/packages. We will follow all safety guidelines including social distancing and washing or sanitizing hands before and after meals. Tables & desks will be cleaned between lunch periods.

How to prepare your child to return:

  • ●  Practice wearing masks for sustained periods of time. Students are expected to keep them on most of the day.

  • ●  If your child brings lunch, please pack a lunch that your child can open.

  • ●  Talk to your child about coming back to school (i.e. practice social distancing,

    washing hands and our other safety measures.) Your support is greatly appreciated!
