Dear Beaubien Families and Friends,

The 2018-2019 school year is in full swing! As always, it is wonderful having all of our students back, eager and ready to learn with our dedicated staff guiding the way.

Open House was a great success! Thank you to all of our families who were able to attend. If you haven’t done so already, please become a PTO member! We need everyone to support our school. Becoming a member does not mean we will put you to work! The one-time $15 family donation, helps to provide enrichment activities for all of our students.

Start with Hello week was this past week with our 6th – 8th grade students. We talked with students about the importance of saying hello as a way to engage others who may feel isolated or alone, and help them to feel a part of our community. This is just one proactive measure that we will be using this year to help foster belonging and inclusion at school. Stay tuned for more events in the near future. #startwithhello #sandyhookpromise

Traffic and Parking
Please be a good neighbor and be patient during pick up and drop off time. Don’t double park, don’t park in the handicap space if you don’t have the sticker, and definitely don’t yell/swear at others while navigating parking. We need everyone to work together to keep ALL of our students safe.

Medical Compliance
If you haven’t already, please turn in your medical forms a.s.a.p. Notices of non-compliance will be sent home shortly. We want to keep all of our students in school. PLEASE make sure your child’s information is up to date. We can’t teach students who aren’t here.

Attendance
Do you wonder whether or not to send you child due to an illness? Please check out this fantastic guide by CPS on when to keep your child home ~ Click Here for more information.
Just a reminder, the only excused absences are for illness, family emergency or a religious holiday. If your child stays home, please send a dated, signed note from you explaining his/her absence.

Tardies
PLEASE be sure to get your children to school on time. Our school day starts promptly at 7:45 a.m. It is difficult for teachers to get the day started when students are late and it is hard on our students when they have to catch up the minute they get into their classrooms. Students who accumulate 5 or more tardies will be expected to serve a detention. If your child is late due to the bus, they will not be considered tardy. Let’s get our children to school on time!

There are many exciting events taking place during the month of October. One favorite with our students is our annual Boo-Bien Bash which will take place on Friday, October 26th.

In order to stay informed, PLEASE SIGN UP on our website to get notifications of all of the activities going on at our school.

Warm regards,

Michelle H. Ludford
