Greetings Beaubien Bulldog Families,

We are so excited to launch the new school year on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. Although we’re not able to start with in-person learning, students will be engaged in a more robust remote learning experience than last Spring. Our teachers have started coming to school to set up their classrooms, plan and get materials ready to pass out at our School Supply Pick-Up.

All homeroom teachers in 1st – 8th grade will be hosting a Virtual Meet and Greet Orientation on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. This will be a time to meet your child’s new teacher, gain important information about the remote learning schedule, be informed of expectations, and ask questions. Homeroom teachers will be emailing you a link to join the meeting. We will record the meetings if you are not able to attend or if you have children in multiple grades.

We invite you to join our Beaubien Supply Pick-Up on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. During this time, all students will have a bag of school supplies to take home to ensure that they have everything they need to make remote learning successful. Please only send one parent/guardian to pick up supplies. You must wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all times. We will also be handing out school chromebooks to those who need one. Please be sure to check out our TECH CONNECT page to fill out a request as well as get some great hints and tips to make this remote quarter successful. A BIG thank you to Mrs. Sineni for creating this incredibly helpful site.

OUR VIRTUAL BEAUBIEN SCHOOL DAY for students will be from 7:45 am – 2:45 pm. Your child’s specific hour-by-hour breakdown will be shared with you during the virtual Meet and Greet on September 3rd. A copy of each student’s schedule will also be in their supply pick up bag. Below are general instructional minute requirements that you can expect.

Synchronous refers to LIVE real-time instruction with the teacher on Google Meets.

Asynchronous (learning activities) may include teachers providing additional small group instruction, teachers providing structured interventions, independent learning activities such as self-directed projects, assignments, and physical activity. Also, during asynchronous learning, teachers can be available to support students in asynchronous tasks, or teachers may host formal office hours for families and students. Please note that CPS is creating all of our teachers Google Classrooms and hope to have them ready to push out to our families to join on September 1st. Be on the lookout!

Final Reopening Framework

  • Pre-K: 60 minutes of real-time instruction and 90 minutes of learning activities
  • K-2: 180 minutes of real-time instruction and 180 minutes of learning activities
  • 3-5: 205 minutes of real-time instruction and 155 minutes of learning activities
  • 6-8: 230 minutes of real-time instruction and 130 minutes of learning activities
