Another successful Saturday for our chess playing Bulldogs at the CPS K-8 Elementary City Chess Championship held at Crane High School as all three of our participants turned in solid performances.
Top performer of the day was Dimitri D. in the K-4 section. He won his first 4 matches and went into the fifth and final match against the top rated player (from Edison Gifted) with the winner taking the title. Unfortunately, he got the best of our Bulldog (this time), but Dimitri finished with 4/5 points and took home the 2nd place trophy. Way to go, Dimitri!
Also in the K-4 section, Angelo L. defeated two of the top ten finishers en route to 2.5/5 points and an 18th place finish. Nice work, Angelo!
Finally, in the K-6 section Megan W. turned in another great performance with 3/5 points and a 13th place finish. Great job, Megan!
Next year, we hope to qualify our teams so we can have a greater Bulldog presence at this event. We have the talent and just missed it this year. We are always looking for players, so if you know how to play the game and are interested in competing with us, contact John Deligiannis at
