The Beaubien Bulldog Chess Team had an amazing start to the season Saturday at the November Chicago Chess Foundation tournament at Gwendolyn Brooks High School.

The 2nd-3rd graders fielded 7 players, many of whom were playing their first tournament, and the team tied for second place. Third grader Charlotte W. earned a seventh place individual trophy.

The 6th & 7th graders blew away the competition both on an individual and team basis. Sixth graders earning individual trophies were Noah S., 7th place, JT W., 5th place, Dustin T., 2nd place, and Elliott H., 1st place. All of those individual trophies along with wins by 6th grader Matthew D. and 7th grader Darius P. brought home the first place team trophy to Beaubien.

What a strong start to the chess season, Bulldogs!
