Dear Beaubien Families,

CPS rolled out a budget “freeze” for all schools last Monday.  The amount for each school was based on remaining amounts available from all school funds.  These cuts are due to the current CPS budget deficit along with the state not coming through with the $35 million that was promised.

For Beaubien, this means that we will have $111,004.39 cut, 2% of our total budget, in a “freeze.” At our LSC meeting on Wednesday, we discussed how those cuts would impact our school and where we can transfer funds to cover the negative. Although this is devastating, the good news is that there will be no cuts toward personnel.

Looking toward the future, I do foresee next year’s budget to be extremely challenging. We will not have our usual “rollover” money that has helped us in the past unless something happens at the state level.  If you haven’t already, please reach out to your local government officials to ask for their support in equal funding for our schools.  If you have any questions, my door is always open. Our focus at Beaubien will continue, as always, to be our students and families.

Sincerely,

Michelle H. Ludford
